One of the problems we face as human beings is the
fulfilment of our duty to give help to those less fortunate
than ourselves on this increasingly shrinking planet
- but how, and to whom? Well, unfortunately the answer
is never far away. The sight of bloodied faces in war
scenarios, the pictures of fatherless children, roofless
homes and the tragedies which beset our world with riveting
punctuality, like an endless TV series, are always there
to inform us.
Add to the morbid programme of disasters the fact that
most of the poor unfortunate victims are in Muslim lands,
and you can understand why there are so many Islamic
aid agencies advertising and vying for our obligatory
Zakat donations.
Although I was for a long time involved with and helped
establish a large international Muslim Aid agency, one
of the problems was always the huge cost of administration
and marketing. Also, long-term strategies often are
often discarded and given way to 'firefighting' and
emergency aid operations. In this respect, Small Kindness
is a charity with a slight difference, it very hardly
advertises and, like its name, it wants to keep things
small and personal.
This is why at Small Kindness, even after the fundraising
campaigns are over and TV cameras turn away and switch
off, we try to remain in full active operation and specialized
in helping sustain Orphans and Families rebuild their
lives with continous support. Young adolescent girls
who need education are also high on our priority list
with Projects that help provide them skills and career
opportunities for life.
Hopefully you will help us here at Small Kindness to
continue our long term strategy to stretch the hand
of help as far as possible into the future. Please give
as generously but any amount, however small, will be
welcome and may God reward you with the best.

“I remember when we came back from Albania,
after the Serbs expelled us, we found our home burned
and razed to the ground. My father had been killed.
Our mother didn’t know what to do. We are so grateful
to the Small Kindness orphans fund in Kosova for the
care it has shown us and many other families in our
city. I am now studying at the Zekirja Rexha elementary
school in Gjakova. I have a sister who also attends
the school with me. Our material needs are big, but
every help is welcomed.”
