A Smile on an Orphan Child's Face:
Muhammad Azri’s story

A story from Small Kindness Indonesia Orphan and Family Fund

One of the major priorities for Small Kindness in Indonesia is to maintain a good relationship between our office and the orphans (and host families) we sponsor. Therefore, we conduct visits to observe their progress. Usually, this is done every two weeks with a different location visited each time.

Muhammad Azri is one such orphan, who has been supported for more than two years. He lost both of his parents in the tsunami. Fortunately, his grandparents survived and they are now caring for him.

Muhammad is now living with his grandparents in Lhok Nga. He has grown up to be a happy boy in the years following the tsunami, his face showing neither sorrow nor sadness, for he was still very young when tsunami hit the area.

His grandfather is very grateful for our support, since the family themselves are of little means and have no work by which they could support themselves.

Moreover, with each day that passes they are getting older and weaker; and are almost entirely reliant on the help that Small Kindness provides. Through our help they hope that they can raise Muhammad until he grows up.

It’s inspiring to know that orphaned children such as Muhammad can still have bright future even though they have lost the loved ones. Nothing is more delightful than to see the smile on their faces. And you too can be part of it.

If not now, when?
If not you, who?
